Love, Joy, Peace...

 The Big Picture:

Faith Bible Church (https://faithbiblelawton.churchtrac.com/) is seeking a Pastor who will preach the Word of God and shepherd the Body of Christ at our church in Lawton, Oklahoma.   Faith Bible is a Church 45 active members with average attendance of 60 who meets Wednesday nights for Bible study and Sunday mornings for Sunday School and Worship Service.   Faith Bible is debt-free and financially stable.   We support 5 individuals in different mission organizations along with our local Pregnancy Resource Center and Teen Challenge Prison Ministry. Every fifth Sunday offering goes to missions, either individuals or organizations, provided we have met our monthly budget.

Lawton (pop. 93,000), is a mid-size city situated in Southwest Oklahoma, 40 miles from the Texas border and is the seat of Comanche County.  Adjacent to Lawton is Fort Sill, home of the US Army’s Field Artillery. consisting of 20,000 military and civilian personnel and 33,000 military family members. Thus, the population of Lawton/Ft. Sill is large enough to attract major chain stores and restaurants but has kept its small-town feel. The City enthusiastically partners with area churches to improve the quality of life for all residents.

Lawton may be best known for the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge located north of town, The refuge is the oldest national preserve in the US, consisting of 60,000 acres of prairie and freshwater lakes managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services. God’s creativity is on full display as this small mountain range rises up from the middle of the Great Plains providing breathtaking views, a home for buffalo and elk herds, granite mountains, and multiple recreational opportunities.  Lawton’s proximity to the refuge, the military base, as well as nearby tribal lands, makes the area historically rich and culturally diverse.

Someone longing for a small-town life would appreciate Lawton; however, anyone desiring big city amenities, Oklahoma City and Dallas/Ft. Worth are an easy day trip (1 hour and 2.5 hours, one-way, respectively).

Theology of Ministry:

Faith Bible Church Believes:

·        the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are the inerrant Word of God and accepts them and them only as final authority in all matters of private morals, church government, and religious belief and practice.

·        Scripture interprets Scripture.

·        We study Scripture to learn about God and show ourselves whether we are approved of God.

·        We’re saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, as revealed in Scripture alone, to the Glory of God alone."

·        We are saved for good works, not by good works.

The organizational hierarchy of the ministry is found throughout the New Testament. While there are functional differences between pastors, teachers and the general body of disciples, the concept of ONE body was and is the overreaching tenant of the church.  The headship of Faith Bible is the Lord Jesus Christ with the pastor and all members submitting to the Lord and His Word. The pastor is an individual who answers God’s call on his life to be “set apart” as a pastor, as well as the validating corporate call of a specific church to the individual to serve in that designated position to and with that congregation. Following the Biblical pattern from Timothy, Titus and 1Peter, pastors are preachers, teachers, overseers, leaders, under-shepherds, and servants for our Lord Jesus Christ.
